2021 Book List
Okay, friends… here is my 2021 reading list. I don’t have time to post a review on all of them, but I’ll highlight a few of my favorites in different categories.
My favorite novel: This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger
I was surprise in a great way by this book. I hadn’t read anything by Krueger previous to this and didn’t know what to expect, but this book blew me away. I couldn’t put it down. It read a bit like Huckleberry Finn with because of its endearing characters and a great adventure.
My favorite Christian book: Live No Lies by John Mark Comer
I’ve read all of Comer’s books and I’ll continue to read what he writes. This book is a much need manifesto on truth and lies. it seems especially necessary given our are of fake news and erosion of absolute truth. Comer both diagnosis our cultural moment and points us forward as disciples. I highly recommend.
My favorite leadership book: Switch by Chip and Dan Health
This book came recommended to me by a friend. It’s about leading change - something that I spend. fair amount of energy doing. I loved the way the authors built around a metaphor of an elephant and its rider. It was memorable, practical, and enlightening. I’ve already gone back to it to review and think through how I might do things differently in light of their learnings.
Honorable mention: The Intentional Father by Jon Tyson
I loved this book as it inspired me to disciple my kids with intentionality and passion. It’s chalked full or practical ideas of ways to step into your role as a dad more confidently and whole-heartedly.
Here’s my whole 2021 list. I made it to my goal of 50. Hooray!
